
Hilal Karahan is a Turkish poet, writer, translator, mother, and medical doctor. She was born in 1977 in Gaziantep/Turkey. Since 2000, she has been writing professionally. Many collective books and bilingual poetry almanacs are published by her and found in organization committees of international poetry festivals. She has six poetry books, three prose books, and many selected poems published in different languages.
She is a member of Türkiye PEN, Intercontinental director of the linked World Festival of Poetry (WFP) organization, a Turkish member of the World Poetry Movement (WPM), and a Turkish ambassador of the World Institute of Peace (WIP). She has organized the International FeminIstanbul Women’s Poetry Festival every year since 2016, a platform that celebrates and promotes the voices of women in literature.
She has many national and international poetry awards. Since 2017, she has been a member of the publishing council of international bilingual poetry magazines Absent, Rosetta Word Literatura, and Sahitya.
