Jeton Kelmendiwas born in 1978 in the city of Peja in Kosovo. He studied at the University of Pristina with a B.A. in Mass Communication and at the Free University with an M.A. in Diplomacy followed by a PhD.
He works as a professor at AAB University College. He has been writing poetry, prose, essays and short stories for many years and regularly publishes newspaper articles on cultural and political issues. Jeton Kelmendi first became known in Kosova in 1999 with the publication of his first book entitled The Century of Promises (Shekulli i Premtimeve. His poems have been translated into more than thirty-seven languages and published in several international literary anthologies.
He is the most translated Albanian poet and, according to many literary critics, the true representative of modern Albanian poetry. International critics and poets consider him a great European poet.
