Sabine Lipan, born in 1958, studied German and Protestant theology and, immediately after her second state examination, decided not to become a teacher but to pursue a creative career. She wrote for daily and trade newspapers, advertising agencies, and the public relations departments of various companies, managed a big band, and worked as a speechwriter for politicians and social institutions. Then the first story came into her life, and since 2005 she has worked as a freelance writer, initially primarily in the field of children’s and young adult literature.
Her books have been published by various publishers and translated from Brazil and the USA to Israel and Finland. For several years now, she has increasingly written for adults, appearing in various anthologies and literary magazines.
Immer mit rotem Sofa (Always with a Red Sofa) is her first collection of short stories. Sabine Lipan is chairwoman of the North Rhine-Westphalia Association of Writers and Social Workers (VS NRW) and active in various other authors’ associations.
