Ludwig Lugmeier was born in 1949 in Kochel am See (Upper Bavaria).
He attended elementary school for eight years. He dropped out of an apprenticeship after a few months. As a teenager, he wandered through Europe. He worked as a dockworker, waiter, extra, tour guide, bank robber, storyteller, bear tamer, and sailed as a ship’s cook.
Lugmeier lived in Great Britain, Ghana, Mexico, Ecuador, and Iceland. He wrote novels, novellas, poems, radio features, and worked to revive silent film.
He lives in Berlin.
